I went here with a really bad cough, severe back pain at the end of a two-day fever. I didn't even get to see a real doctor, but a nurse practitioner instead who looked to be younger than me. She did not even try to give me a diagnosis, but after two minutes of the usual questions she handed me a prescription for Amoxil antibiotics and told me to take advil for my back (I am 26 years old and could not walk without holding on to something and leaning most of my weight on it). I had to request something for the cough so that I could sleep through the night and she reluctantly added a cough syrup.
No wonder antibiotics are losing their effectiveness when people like this woman prescribe them to anyone and everyone with any sort of symptoms at all. I later went to another doctor and was diagnosed with acute bronchitis, which antibiotics are NOT effective against. I recommend finding someplace else, even if you have to drive out to Savannah to find a good doctor.
I have been going to see Dr. Rippey for over a year now. He is by far the most caring and compassionate Dr I have ever seen. He is such a great addition to the SJC, Bluffton team. I HIGHLY recommend him!
I have never been to see a Doctor at St. Joesph's Candler although I did make an appointment. I do not have a regular Doctor at this time so as a new patient their earliest appointment was 3 weeks. I excepted the appointment they sent me paperwork in the mail. The day of the appointment two hours before they called me to tell me that the person I made the appointment with is not longer with the company and stated that they are not taking new patients until March 2 1/2 months away. They did not even offer to make a new appointment with them for March or try to fit me in. I will gladly take my money some where else!
SJC management contacted us immediately and are taking measures to correct the problems that gave rise to our complaints. We are trusting that they will be effective.
